NYC Kautz Uible Trip Case Study
● Why should you be selected to attend the NYC Kautz Uible Trip?
The NYC Kautz Uible Trip provides many great opportunities that any economics major/minor would like to take part in. I should be selected for the NYC trip for the reason that I show great passion for the economic world and would be very grateful to get to experience events such as talking with the Federal Reserve, visiting a corporate bank, and possibly visiting the NYSE. To be able to visit these locations and meet the people involved there is truly an invaluable opportunity, and I will make the most of the opportunities presented.
Although I’m only a first-year student, I’m continually developing my economic background by reading The Economist on a daily basis. political debate. This is also beneficial as NYC will surely be talking about the upcoming inauguration on January 20th while the NYC Kautz Uible group is visiting.
Overall, I would be excited to learn more about our economy in NYC and I would love to build relationships with both the new and current members of the Economics Society on the Kautz Uible Trip.
● How will being selected impact your development as an economics major/minor?
Being selected for the NYC Kautz Uible Trip would not only give me more confidence to pursue a Business Economics major, but also help me find a supporting major to go along with it. As Dr. Pal stated, an Economics degree alone is valuable, but if you can pair it up with another major you will be much more successful. I currently wish to pursue a Business Economics/Finance double major, however I’m open to exploring other supporting majors as well. The visits to the financial institutions of New York City will surely help me decide what fields I can contribute to and will suit me best.
● What have you contributed to the Economics Society in the past or plan on contributing in the future

My main action that I have taken in the Economics Society is attending every Economics Society meeting since the beginning of the school year. Looking forward with the organization, I’m applying to be the Treasurer of the Economics Society for the Spring Semester. I feel that I have an applicable background is basic accounting and finance which would allow me to contribute my skills to the organization.
In addition to applying for the Treasurer position, I have applied for two study abroad trips related to Economics in the past week. I have applied to both “United Kingdom: Culture, Business, and Economy of London” and “Costa Rica: Economic, Social, and Sustainable Development.” These are the only study abroad trips I have applied to and I would be delighted to attend either of these. If I were to be accepted to both the NYC Kautz Uible Trip and a study abroad trip, my first-year experience of Economics would be deeply enriched by both domestic and international economy.
In the end, I would be extremely excited to attend the NYC Kautz Uible Trip with the Economics Society. The organization meetings and events have been consistently organized and beneficial. I believe that the NYC trip will be beneficial to all members invited on the trip, and I would love to be involved with the experience.
