NYS Information Fluency
I am familiar with Common Core instruction through my time spent as an elementary level substitute teacher. I have also provided instruction and resources to Nassau County librarians in support of the NYS Information Fluency Continuum. Many of the skills students acquire through library instruction tie into a variety of goals which have been determined to contribute to making students “college and career ready”. I have also had a great deal of experience in training and instructional delivery and enjoy sharing my knowledge and skills with others.

    As a member of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s Undergraduate Education Advisory Committee (UEAC) I worked closely with other committee members to complete the first major revision of the Texas Core Curriculum in over 30 years. The Texas Core is the common general education core curriculum required of all Texas public colleges and universities.     The Common Core State Standards Initiative (also known simply as Common Core) is an educational initiative that details what primary and secondary students should understand at the end of each grade in English Language Arts and Mathematics. Common Core's background dates to the 1990s with the inception of what was known as the "Standards & Accountability Movement," which sought to reform the educational standards upon which students were measured in relation to college and workplace readiness.
