"Shit, this means you have a concussion or something, right?"
The whole time I am just trying to hide my mortification; I just puked all over my sister's idol. On what apparently is his favorite pair of shoes.
"Um, we should go find Karla, can you walk?" he asks.
I have no idea who Karla is. I'm hoping,
Karla is the manager who spoke with me earlier and not one of the nurses.
Jack does not give me the chance to respond to anything that has just happened before he looks at me.
"Who am I kidding," he says as he bends down and scoops me up like I weigh nothing, making sure not to touch my broken arm.
I personally am not …show more content…
someone who likes to be touched by other people, which is understandable considering my home life. Chloe is the only exception to this. But in the past three hours two people have picked me up like a sack of potatoes. This is just not my day.
"What are you doing? I can walk," I exclaim. Being pressed up against him like this, I can feel how in shape he really is.
"I'm sure you can, but since you just puked all over my favorite shoes I am giving myself the executive decision here," he says.
"Oh, so now it's my fault that you're nauseating," I snap back.
"Wow, you're smart; let's piss off the person who is carrying you. Now, close that pretty mouth so I can find my manager and get you to the hospital," He say while smirking.
I stay quiet but in my head I'm thinking of how happy I am now that I ruined his shoes.
He carries me down hallway after hallway until eventually I see the manager who spoke with me earlier.
"Karla, she just puked and I believe that means she has a concussion right? We need to get her to the hospital. Who can we bring her to who won't go to the press," Jack says so fast I almost can't understand it.
"This is just great," Karla says. "We need to call a legal guardian immediately, I should have done it first thing, but I forgot."
"No! You can't," I say too quickly. "Um, what I mean is my only legal guardian is my mom, and she is extremely stressed out at the moment and she would freak out it she knew I was hurt. I just don't want to give her anything else to worry about," I say.
I don't feel guilty about lying. If my mom ever found out the truth, a concussion and broken arm would be the least of my worries.
"Are you sure? I mean it would make my life a lot easier, but I don't know," Karla says.
"Yes, I'm positive, put it in the contract if you have to," I say desperation leaking through my voice.
Jack looks down at me interest shining in his eyes.
I could see his brain working through the terrible lie. Before he could see how illegal what I just said was I groan "I think I'm going to puke," I lied again. That was all it took for him to lose his train of thought.
"I swear to god if you puke on me again" he trails off looking warily at me.
"Oh dear," Karla says, "we need to get you to a doctor fast. I don't really know anyone from the medical department in this part of California, this doesn't usually happen."
"If my phone isn't demolished I can call my own personal doctor, he can treat all of my injuries and he won't tell anybody. He had been treating me since I was a little kid, and is practically a part of our family," I say as cryptic as I can. "He does live four hours away though, one of us would have to drive."
"Let's call him first, I'm willing to pay whatever it takes to get him down here," Karla says. she then pulls out her walkie-talkie and calls for somebody to go fetch my phone.
When I'm handed my phone I go to my emergency contacts and call him. On the second ring he answers
"Hey Kate what's up," He says. Karla immediately takes my phone from my hand and doesn't give me a chance to
respond.
"Hello, I am Jack Williams manager, and we have a situation," Karla speaks into the phone.
While Karla sets something up I look up at Jack, "you can put me down now, there is a couch right there."
"I know, I just didn't want to let you go yet," he says, his cocky smirk back on his face. He walks over and lays me down on the couch.
"Don't you have a concert or something to do?" I ask.
"I do, but don't think that means I am not coming to the hospital to check on you"
"Your kidding right? Don't you think I have been tortured enough today," I say with one eyebrows raised.
He looks at me and laughs, and my heart flutters at how handsome he is. I'm starting to understand why girls get so caught up over him. But I'm not stupid enough to fall for his tricks... I hope.
"Don't worry Kate I understand you've hit your head pretty hard, so I won't take the comment seriously," he says jokingly "But I honestly have no plans after the concert, and why not find out more about a beautiful girl who broke her arm just to get a picture of me."
I am great at hiding my emotions, and I do it all the time. I am, however, totally caught of guard when he says that and I feel a light blush spread across my face.
"I was not trying to take a picture of you I was texting someone!" I say exasperated. "Also I am signing a contract later saying I won't go to the press or sue you, so you don't need to say stuff that you don't mean."
His eyes twinkle and I can see he doesn't believe me at all. "Okay Kate, whatever you say, we can discuss it later."
"Why do you care about coming to see me tonight, won't you forget this even happened in a week, why drag it on?" I ask, honestly confused.
"I already told you, I have nothing to do tonight and you're interesting and different, it's not everyday I'm puked on. I think it is safe to say I'll remember you for at least a year," he winks. "Well I really have to go get ready for the concert that you have distracted me from, but trust me Kate, you are going to be seeing me more."
"Oh, and Kate, I didn't say you were beautiful so you wouldn't sue, honestly I wouldn't care if you did. I said it because you really are." He winks again and I'm starting to think there is something in his eye.
"Just what I need, some famous, arrogant, son of a.." I mutter under my breath. He doesn't hear me though, because he has left the room already leaving me with Karla.
Five minutes later Karla says goodbye and hands me my cracked phone back.
"Oh, is it possible to add a new phone to the deal?" I ask as I look at my poor iPhone screen.
