Jensen suddenly steps in front of me, blocking me from the staircase. He looks down at me, very serious, but it’s more than that, I just don’t understand what it is. A part of me doesn’t want to understand. “I don’t like the way he looks at you.”
Disgusted, I scoff and shove pass him, deciding to help gather the supplies, but he grabs my wrist and pulls me closer.
“I don’t trust him,” he simply says.
I yank my arm away, enraged. I keep my voice low so Felix and Thorn can’t hear me. “I don’t care. I trust him and you trust me, so stop this and put your head on straight. We have to trust each other if we are going to escape this place alive. So listen to me and be nice. I personally don’t care if you, two, kill each other, just do once we’re outside this damn city!”
Jensen scowls. “Fine, but if he…”
“If he what?” I shout, a little louder than expected. “He clearly likes you more than he’s letting on,” he continues.
I sigh, trying to relax and making my voice a whisper again. I rub the bridge of my nose. I already knew that, but I play dumb and act as if I don’t. Felix is a friend, nothing more. “I know.”
“You know and you’re not going to do anything about
