Narrative Essay On Texting And Driving
Groggily raising both arms high above her head, she lets out a long yawn and proceeds to rub her eyes of her favorite mascara residue from the night before. Taking short steps with bare feet, she enters the bathroom and the cold feel of the tile beneath her toes begins to aid her sleepy mind. Following through with her nightly routine, she realizes she it is 2:09 a.m. where her mind immediately goes into action mode and she rushes through the door with her left shoe still untied. She is 9 minutes late for her night shift and she must hurry if she wants to keep her minimum wage job to help afford her rent for the month. I write this from the perspective of one of my closest friends and what she had to endure during what should have been her stress free summer. I urge a class that many may take lightly and do quite often and yet accidents are skyrocketing. In this day and age, we advance forward and look towards our mobile devices to stay connected with our love ones. However, many abuse this privilege and put not only their life at risks but others on the road with them as they multitask texting and driving. So many young adults become increasingly connected towards their phone that they begin to lose focus on their surroundings and end up in a casket only days later. Using my knowledge and what I have seen, I would like to educate others on the dangers of texting and driving. Although many already realize that this is such an obvious piece of information, it is hard to believe that it is getting through their heads as there are still 11 fatal accidents occurring on the daily due to texting and driving. This is such a heartbreaking yet pressing issue that I feel is important to emphasize as it can happen to anybody. My Paideia will serve as a reminder that accidents happen all the time but I refuse to be a statistic. This is reality and we are here to live in
