Everything from the scorching rays of the sun to the crowded city near the Gulf of New Mexico reminded me of what had happened four years ago. A young girl had gone missing in New Orleans, Louisiana.
After brushing her silky, blond hair, Grace Johnson slipped on a pink dress that complimented her ocean-blue eyes exquisitely. Good spirits were the only things in mind, for she was flying to Louisiana—alone. Grace bolted to the kitchen for some breakfast, but halted to a stop seconds later, after seeing something odd. As she got off the plane, Grace spotted something from afar. The shadow! What if it followed me here? The thought made Grace panic. Maybe I need to eat something, she thought to herself. Grace decided it was a good idea to stop at Café du Monde. So, she called a cab, and soon, Grace would be eating one of her favourite desserts.
After paying the driver, Grace gave her full attention to the crowded streets of New Orleans. Jazz musicians and sunny skies, what an amazing city. From a small distance, Grace spotted her destination. She rushed towards the smell of sweet grease and pure happiness.
Before Grace new it, she was covered in powdered sugar. The crispy yet fluffy beignet no longer existed. After paying, Grace walked along the paved streets. The air was tense, nothing felt right. She turned around slowly, expecting someone to be following her. She was right: the shadow. Grace ran faster than the speed of light. It was following quickly, making her run into deep parts of the city. She was lost. Being trapped physically and mentally, the shadow was the last thing she saw before disappearing.
