What is a Narrative?
Narratives are a common form of written communication.
Basically, a Narrative is a story about an occurrence or a course of events.
The reader should be able to get a clear, concise, and complete picture of the occurrence or course of events.
For the most part, you define yourself by the way you compose a narrative.

Compose a short narrative about a subject that is very familiar to you, for instance
Golf.
Your objective is that you want the reader to “experience” what you know just from reading your narrative.
Imagine that the narrative is going to be read by someone who may not be at all familiar with your topic.
Your explanation of the subject matter should include detail: who, what, when, where, why, and how
Your goal is to create a narrative that can be read by anyone and be understood after reading it.

Answer a few questions about the narrative you have just written. Does it clearly explain the particulars that occur so the reader will understand what you are saying?
Was it clear, concise, and complete?
What impression did you present to those people who read your narrative?  Knowledgeable about the topic?
 Logical development of thought ?

This narrative report is used to document a significant event in a chronological order.
 A permanent record of the event
 Leaves no questions in the minds of the reader
 It is factual
 Easily understood without being ambiguous  Grammatically correct

Writing isn’t something that was ever stressed in my high school and since I am a computer science major, didn’t think that I would really be needing to write very often. But, this class has completely changed my perspective on writing, along with how I write. I have learned how to better plan my papers, create strong arguments, and how to create a good flow in the final product.…

In all seriousness, my writing is garbage, but it some what improved the slightest bit because I had a professor who actually knows how to teach a English class and not give little hints on telling us if our paper was trash. Instead, we were told straight if it was a good paper or not and it has probably helped me improve the most. In High School, I was always told that my papers were “good,” thankfully I finally had a Professor who can give it to me straight and tell us how we can improve our writing. On all the RRs, RWL, and formal essays that I have written these past twelve weeks, I have gotten educational criticism that has helped my pathetic writing become less pathetic and somewhat college worthy writing.…

Towards the beginning of English 110, I wanted to improve upon several issues within my writing style. These issues included the frustration of attempting to improve upon my inability to write a coherent sentence after experiencing intense feelings of irritation and boredom. The other problem involved my inability to create seamlessly flowing paragraphs from one to the next. My goal was to improve my writing abilities by practicing and learning to expunge those mistakes and become a caring writer for the papers I had to write. I have met some of these goals with relative success.…

My writing workshop experience as a freshman was successful, time devoting, and different. It is different from my past experiences in writing, because I had the opportunity to chose my own topic, and had most of the year to improve each of my pieces. I enjoyed the process, and thought it was very helpful to receive feedback from both my peers, family, and teacher. I had enough time to edit mistakes I missed the first time around,, and the chance to receive edits from others who had different perspectives and ideas on my pieces. Teacher conferences were the most effective, because Mr. Ferges was very honest, and not only showed me my grammatical weaknesses, but also my writing weaknesses in specific spots that needed improvement. My favorite…

One thing that has shaped me to become the person writing to you today, is my level of determination to succeed. That probably sounds hollow, because everyone will say that, but let me explain my story. I am not a prideful person or a personal flag waver, so even telling this story is difficult. I cannot say what I am now without showing how I’ve been fighting my whole life to be able to call myself determined.…

Faced with the dilemma of choosing my spring semester classes in college, a challenge faced by almost all college students, I was having a tough time deciding which ones that I should sign up for. Finally after much inner turmoil and debate I decided to take EN100, an english class required to be taken sooner or later by almost, if not all, college students seeking a degree. When I first signed up to take english I have to say that I was most definitely not looking forward to taking the class. Throughout my entire life I have never been a good writer and have never enjoyed taking english classes in general. Although it is very hard for me to find motivation to sit down and write papers for class, especially when I don't have something to write about that interests me, I pushed through and produced some quality papers.…

My writing recording sheet shows the many fluctuations of my writing grade. My year starts off with an okay start, and then towards the middle, my grades started to plummet. I would attribute that to my lack of focus in proofreading and properly checking my work. Over my last few assignments, I have been marked off for things that I could have easily attained point. During the start of the year, recording my mistakes down did really benefit me in my future assignments, but there would always be times where a mistake would slip through my proofreading. At most times, it would be my header where I might have forgotten my title, had too much spacing, or etc. Towards the end of the year, I kind-of fell off from recording in great detail as I started…

Asking questions like; when, did they start feeling depressed? Or have they ever experienced the feelings before? When was the last time they felt happy? I would also have them recall what they did before to get through their feelings of depression by asking, You got through the depression before, what did you do different then to make you feel better? Giving them room to reexamine their feelings and the problem that led them to feel as they do, would give them the opportunity to realize they do not have to own those feelings. The ability to attend the University of Southern California would allow me the necessary educational shift to better align an academic foundation in screenwriting with my professional aspirations. My current academic background in the field of Psychology was born from curiosity. I wanted to understand why mental illness pervaded those around me, but upon graduation I realized that I did not have the intense determination to continue to pursue a career in the field. Instead, I find that particular determination—that drive—in storytelling and writing scripts. Storytelling is my passion and writing is my calling; personally, I believe it to be a manner by I can make a positive change in this world and achieve the following personal goal: to help…

Originally, as seen in the annotated bibliography, (as seen in Appendix A) I planned to do a weekly plan of all the tasks that I had to complete that week (as seen in Figure two). However, I quickly realised, I did not flexibility with this approach, my weeks became extremely tedious and repetitive, which ultimately meant that I would not follow the plan. I instead developed the aforementioned daily plan which gave me more flexibility, as day by day, I could develop the plan in association with what needs to be done. As some mind numbing tasks have an effect on a person, it meant that I was also able to accommodate to what I was mentally able to do that day. I did however, maintain the colour scheme, and the layout of the original learning plan, which meant it was easy to see what types of tasks needed to be completed (as seen in figure one),…

I have been dreading these summer classes because I am a first timer to this experience. My entire mood changed as soon as I stepped into that classroom because I had the pleasure to meet some of my classmates. Some of the classmates I had the pleasure of meeting with were Cytlaly, Tristan, and I also let them know a little about myself. We shared personal influences, goals/aspirations in life, and a little about ourselves that makes us different from each other. I realized that we share the same perspective for our lives.…
