The nature vs nurture debate is concerned with the extent of which culture, behaviour and personality are a result of. Nature refers to the genetic inheritance, and other already-present biological factors such as hormones which influence who we are, from our physical appearance to our personality characteristics (Cherry, 2015). Nurture on the other hand refers to external factors that are acquired through interaction with our environment. This can include childhood experiences, our surroundings and how we are raised. Our biological makeup is significantly important. We are defined as either male or female by the non-autosomal chromosome either XX or XY. Neurotransmitters send messages around our brain and between neurons of the nervous system; which controls almost everything we do, including our behaviours. Examples of how the brain affects our behaviour is shown indifferent areas of the brain e.g. amygdala is involved in generating emotions in the brain. (How do nature and nurture influence human development? Which has more influence on human development, nature (genes) or nurture (environment)?, 2011)); Our unique experiences in our environment influence whether and how particular traits are expressed, and at the same time, our genes influence how we interact with our environment (Diamond, 2009; Lobbo;2008), (no date), Nurture plats a very big role in early human development. It can speed up a child’s ability to study and learn new things. ‘An individual can improve knowledge by practicing to adapt to all creations in these circumstances or environment.’ Nature is responsible for the healthy development of a baby before birth. However, it is not entirely responsible for the development of the baby into an intelligent or athletic adult. This is only possible through the exposure of the environment
