If a country is to face the challenges with self confidence, it must have a standard educatiobal system. India is a country with full of villages.
Hence, educational standards in villages must be improved. Intelligent students must get good education even villages. Their learning capacity and emotional capacity must be improved. Equal opportunity must be provided to all children.
In 1986, the Hon’ble Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi introduced navodaya school for the benefit of the village children
The aims of Navodaya Schools
Schools are developed as the speedy and efficient institutions.
Providing equal opportunities to all to get good education.
Those children, who are from villages and are backward in social and economical conditions, are provided with developmental opportunities.
To bring out the capacities of the children, modern equipments and technologies are introduced in the schools.
Adopting innovative methods to improve the standard of education
Giving teachers full freedom to improve the teaching methods.
Strengthening the social and citizenship rights.
Giving training to youngsters in National integration and social unity.
Keeping the same educational standard throughout the Nation and raising this standard to the world standard.
Sharing the HR and MR with other institutions and introducing new ideas New trials and New tests.
Adopting three language formula
Protecting the rural natural resources and natural environments and developing them.
Adopting long standing educational plans.
The Working of Navodaya Schools
These schools are started in 30 acres in District Headquarters. These school have world class facilities like Swimming pools. These schools follow CBSE patters. Village students are given admission in VI standard. Students are selected on psychological testing methods. Each section contains 40 students only. National common syllabuys is followed. Education is imparted on the following four branches. They are science, commerce, life science and technology. Both English and Hindi are the medium of instruction. Reserved seats are given to scheduled caste and scheduled tribe students. 20% of seats are given to students from other states. Many modern simple methods are used in teaching.
Teachers are selected at National Level selection by conducting testings. Selected teachers are given training in NCERT world class laboratories, modern equipment and LCD power point projectors are used. Equal standard education to all is the motto. These are called pioneer schools and leader schools. As Tamil Nadu sate follows two languages formula, these schools are not functioning in this state, still pioneer schools and functioning.
Sainik Schools:
During the British Period, public schoold in Dehradoon, Simla, Mussori and Nainital were started for the benefits of children of Royal birth and High class Society. There education was started from primary level then to Secondary level and Upto Cambridge level. For the benefit of children of the BRitisgh Army officewrs, many schools were started , they are Sainic Schools . Their main aims were to devlop the special ability of the children, to devlop National security and National protection. The syllabus included the regular lessons along with war training.
17 Sainik schools are d\administered by Sainik school Academy in India. The defence minister is the Chairman of the academy. These schools are affiliated to central board of secondary educations.
These schools follow 10+2 school pattern. Those who pass out from these schools are eligible to study in military college. Those belonging to the Age group of 11-18 are trained to appear for the entrance examination for admission into National Defence Academy. Those who get education in Sainik schools and National Defence Academy are serving in the defence force of ourn country. Students are admitted in Sainik Schools based on their mental& physical fitness and a pass in the 5th Standard. The admission will be given based on the entrance examination also.
Indian Military Academy:
This college is functioning at Dehradoon in the state of Uttarpradesh. Admission is given in 6th Standard within the Age group of 11-12 years. It follow 10+2 +3 pattern of education . Each state is given one seat according to merit. Each state student is given scholoarship by the concerned state govts.
National Defence Academy:
This academy functiobns in Kadakvasala near Pune in Maharashtra State. This also comes under the administration. Those qualified in this instituition are equivalent to university graduates. These students are selected from Sainik schools. The entrance examination is conducted by this academy itself.
Those qualified in this academy get defence posting as commissiones officers. Sainik schools and Indian Military academy function as per the directions of the National Defence Academy.
Sarva Shiksha Ahbiyan SSA
This is the scheme to give education to one and all upto the age of 14 years. This is as per the directive principle found in the Indian constitution. This scheme ensures quality education to one and all without any discrimination as male or female, haves and have not’s and high or low within a time frame.
As all the people in a socity take up the responsibility of carrying on this scheme, this is known as Education to all policy.
The aims of this scheme are as follows:
All thechildren of school going age must be admitted in schools within 2003.
Those admitted in 2003 must be made to pass 5th standard successfully before 2007.
Similarly all these students are to pass 10th standard within 2010.
Ensuring quality education which is useful for life and earning in future.
Completely removing any barriers to this aim because of the caste, colour creed etc.,
All those admitted students under this scheme must be trained in schools upto 2010.

Creating social justice through quality basic education.
This scheme involves the basic village setups like parents teachers association and village education council etc in the education of the village children.
This scheme exposes the determination of the govt. in providing education to all.
This is a scheme carried out with the participation of Central and State govts along with village administrations.
Scheme Procedures:
The scheme of education to all will be carried out in TamilNadu from 2001 to 2010. This scheme provides facilities to all the schools. All the children of school going age are admitted in schools. They have to be retained in the schools without break in their education. Apart from this, building extra classrooms, providing drinking water facilities, providing toilet facilities, provinig adequate teaching aids are to be undertaken in this scheme. The capacilty of the scheme workers, village education council members and teachers must be improved. To raise the standard of education, research work are alos initiated un der this schme.
