Hitler and the Nazi party had a strong belief in Social Darwinism. They believed that each race didn’t have just have physical traits but traits that were meant for that race that made them superior compared to other races. The Nazi’s believed that the German Aryan Race had traits that made them superior to anybody else. Everybody else who wasn’t Aryan or deemed worthy were considered inferior. Races like the Slavs and Jews were deemed to have inferior traits thus they were inferior.
Hitler blamed all of Germany’s problems on the Jews and many people believed them. Jews were thought to be so inferior they weren’t considered “people”.
Political prisoners were anybody who didn’t believe in Nazism. For example people who …show more content…
were Socialists, Communists, and Democrats.
The Nazi’s also believed that Jehovah Witnesses should be persecuted. Reason being that they pledge their allegiance to God and refuse to pledge their allegiance to the Nazi’s.
Asocials were executed for similar reasons as they had no intention of being productive or proving their allegiance to the Nazi cause.
The Disabled were also weeded out as Hitler believed that their genes will hamper future generations by making them disabled.
Homosexuals were persecuted too. The Nazi Party believed that in order for a country to prosper they needed to produce children of their race. Since homosexuals cannot produce children they are therefore a waste of resources, therefore killed.
Roma people also known as Gypsies didn’t escape Hitler's ethnic cleansing either. Hitler assigned a man named Dr. Robert Ritter. He was a Criminal Biologist. This is the field of criminal activity passing through genes. Dr. Ritter tracked down and hunted all Roma since he discovered that 90% of Roma were mixed blood and were carrying “degenerate” blood that would hamper Hitler's vision of a superior aryan race.
This is My Letter to the World
Dear Reader, The holocaust was a modern dark age. It brought out the worst in people. I still wonder how the SS were able to still function as humans after what they did. Willingly mass murdering thousands of people all under the guise of superiority. Working people to death. Simply shooting people point blank for collapsing from malnutrition and exhaustion. Inferior they told me. 90% degenerate blood. I was not worthy enough to live under The Great Fuhrer. His word is law and I was just a pebble in his path cast away into the deepest and darkest corners of the German Death Machine. I was born in 1931, the 4th of 6 children. My parents were Catholic Roma’s. My family and I were horse traders. Growing up I was used to freedom and hard work. We traveled in a wagon throughout the year. Every year during the winter we stopped in Vienna Austria and hunkered down. My family has a been here for 200 years. However, on the winter of 1938 everything changed. Germany had just annexed Austria and made everyone stay put. My parents converted our wagon into a permanent house. After years of freedom in a traveling wagon, closed walls seemed alien to me. Have 4 walls felt like a cage…a jail. Trapped on the inside with nowhere to go. My family settled down, my father and older sister went to work in the factory and I started grade school. After 2 years of this enclosed settled life. The Germans sent us to Auschwitz. When we arrived the mood was sullen. Twins were picked out to be experimented on by Dr. Joseph Mengele. While the SS called him Captain Mengele, we referred to him as the Angel of Death. Food was a miracle. We were given little but every morsel was important to staying alive. A lot of us quit, choosing to starve to death than live. Even those who did eat died of malnutrition and the exhaustion of forced labor. Every day the wails of crying ex-mother's, screams of men being tortured, and the crack of gunshots echoed throughout the camp. Most of us were sent to be worked to death. The lucky ones were to be executed with a shot to the neck. By 1944, 23,000 Gypsies entered, roughly 2,000 survived. Out of the 2,000, 918 of us, including me were transferred to Buchenwald.
When we arrived, 200 of us were decided to be unfit for work and to be returned to Auschwitz. My brother and Uncle saved my life, arguing that I was 14 but a dwarf. The remaining 199 returned to face the gas chambers. Buchenwald had its own set of monsters. Our conditions didn’t improve. This time we were forced to work for the German Death machine. Producing the same weapons and munitions that would potentially kill more of our undesirables. Those who resisted were shot. At Buchenwald we had Dr. Carl Vaernet. Surprisingly he wasn't German, but of Danish origin. An honorary Aryan they told us. He was a physician. However it seemed like he forgot the Hippocratic Oath. We were the guinea pigs, the slaves, the undesirables. Forced to go under the needle with experimental vaccines that killed hundreds of us. Dr. Vaernet even had a proposition that he could cure homosexuality. Everyday, the SS would march prisoners out into the stables, shot them, or brought then to the crematorium to be hung. The stench of death didn’t leave us. It stayed with us, it haunted us, following us for every seconds of everyday. We never knew who was next. I was later deported to Flossenburg, just another camp in the German Death
Machine. Then a Miracle happened. I will never forget this day. April 23rd, 1945. The day our prayers were answered. US troops marched into our camp. Angels in green suits accompanied by their Willy’s Jeeps and M4 Shermans. They broke down the gates and greeted us with food and water. We were saved, grateful, but too exhausted and starved to show our appreciation. After recovering from this horrific ordeal. I returned to Vienna and became a self-taught painter. I later moved the the United States. Now I have over 80 paintings exhibited throughout the US, Europe, and Japan
This is my story,
