Neo-Orthodox was created by theologians Karl Barth, Emil Brunner. The reason why this movement came to be was that these theologians seen a huge difference between the older and younger generation. The young generation witnessed that older generation straddling the fence by trying to worship the world and God. Sense the younger knew no better, they decided to follow the “natural theology also known as Christianity of liberalism”, Grenz, & Olson, p. 63, (1992). Theologians Karl Barth, Emil Brunner, Rudolf Bultmann, and Niebuhr all have views on theology, and views on neo-orthodox, all of which will be defined in this essay.
Theology of Karl Barth Karl Barth believes that God only healed, talked with, and performed miracles in the Bible, and no man after the Bible. Barth believes that the Bible is not creditable from subjects such as history, science, and theology, Grenz, & Olson (1992). Barth theology beliefs is that the Bible has three facts from scripture to scripture. Those three facts are the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. The second fact is scripture, which contains revelation from God, and lastly, “the churches proclamation of the gospel”, Grenz, & Olson, p.70, (1992). Niebuhr was leader of the Bible and sharing his faith, by learning as much as he could and sharing to those of his congregation and those who met with Niebuhr. Niebuhr believes that faith without works are dead. In other words, Christians must apply their faith in God and remain in prayer with God that he moves in a timely fashion, Carnahan (2016).
