Table 2 consists of regression models for neoliberal values. The model labeled 1 in table 3 consists of minority, female and total household income’s effect on adherence to neoliberal values (evaluating question 1 without accounting for how other variables affect the relationship).
Results indicated that there is a significant relationship between total household income and neoliberal values, b = .071, SEb = .031. Not only is there is a significant (p =.025) relationship between total household income and neoliberal values but there is a positive relationship. That is, for every unit increase in total household income there is a predicted increase of less than one unit (.071) in adherence to neoliberal values. Only around 1% (R2 = .014) of the variation in degree of neoliberal values was explained by total household income. As such, this finding supports the logic behind Harvey’s argument that individuals with higher socioeconomic status will be more likely adhere to neoliberal values.
