Nervous System
The nervous system consist of all the nerves the body has. Controlling not only the actions the body takes but the emotions a human being feels. The spinal cord, brain, and many nerves revolve around the nervous system. There are three overlapping functions that use millions of sensory receptors, that monitor the body. By monitoring the body the functions detect any changes the human body has had.Two components separate the nervous system allowing us to focus on certain parts of the body. The central nervous system focuses on the brain, spinal cord, and nerves. The peripheral nervous system consist of sensory neurons, ganglia (clusters of neurons), nerves that connect to one another1. The central nervous system (which contains the nerves, brain, and spinal cord) is the one I will mainly focus on. The brain is divided into five sections, the frontal lobe being part of one of the five. Around one hundred neurons occupy the brain, every single one of them is important. After many researchers the brain has been labeled as one of the most challenging organs. Weighting at only three pounds. The brain is full of nerves that interact with one another through both chemical and electrical ways. One of the main things the brain does is store memories; as well as language, emotion, perception, and other complex activities. The brain is protected by meninges that surround the membranes, the cranium (skull) protects the meninges giving the brain even more protection. The brain also has two deep excessive folds and furrows, and is divided into two hemisphere’s by a longitudinal fissure. The frontal lobe (one of the five important brain parts) is the brain function in charge of the emotions, personality, mortality, intellect, and speech. The biggest part of the brain, the cerebrum, is the one who senses the amount of pain the body withholds. According to CEO of neuromatrix, there …show more content…
Alzheimers is degenerative disease that attacks the brain, and results in impaired memory, thinking, and even behavior. Alzheimers affects an estimate of four million American adults, it is also one of the most common dementia (loss of mental function) more than 150,000 million die yearly. Alzheimer’s is the fourth most common death in adults after heart disease, cancer, and strokes. One of the main reasons a person develops this disease is due to the other certain extinction of certain brain cells 20 percent of Alzheimer cases are inherited. Signs and symptoms a person should be aware of are memory loss, ability to follow daily routines, impairment of judgement, disorientation, personality change, difficulty learning, and loss of language skill. Eventually an individual with this disease stops caring about their appearance and health, not caring about themselves the least. These sudden changes in a person can cause the person around them to not only feel alert but to be cautious, the sudden personality change is something to be cautious about. The person will not necessarily remember acting any different, or will simply shrug it off and believe it is due to stress. An MRI or a PET Scan can help doctors see what is wrong with the individual getting these symptoms. An MRI is a test that uses a magnetic field and pulses of radio wave energy to make pictures of organs4 .The MRI will help see if the
