The first summary point that I came across is clearly people are waiting later in life to get married or have never been married at all. In the article the author talks about how adults above or at the age of 25 have never been married and the numbers are clearly on the rise from eight percent in the 1960’s to 16 percent in 2011. What the author also found was 36 percent of black males above the age of 25 have never been married as well.

Well I think there are a lot of factors that make up someone’s opinion on the matter the biggest being someone’s family. Children gain most of their ideas of how important something is based on how their parents act regarding the matter. For example what studies have shown is children who come from a stable family, whose parents are happily married tend to get married earlier in life, while children who come from divorced or even single parent households tend to wait later in life to get married. Combine this with the fact that last year alone there were more divorce finalizing then wedding licenses in the state of WI alone. It doesn’t come to a complete shock that many young people are not getting married early in life, and are waiting to get married. I
As for my personal opinion on is marriage important? I myself am kind of split down the center on the idea. While I myself would like to get married one day, I also believe if you want to provide for a family you have to take care of yourself first financially, physically, and mentally. In other words I believe in order to support someone else you have to take care of yourself first.
