he shows us how life in camps changed his whole outlook on things. Elie once said “In one ultimate moment of lucidity it seemed to me that we were souls condemned to wander through space till the generation of man come to an end, seeking oblivion without hope of finding it”.(34). Once they stepped on Nazi Elie knew that they were destined to death, and there would be no way of getting out. All the Jews began to lose faith in living once they made it to the camps that is when they knew that this was not a dream nor a rumour it was real, and they were now facing the gates of hell.
In the book “Night”, by Elie Wiesel, he shows us how his identity has changed be seeing people die around him, and god not doing anything to help his children.Wiesel stated, “ Never shall i forget those moments which murdered my god, my soul and turned my dreams to dust.”(32). When you go through something so horrible you can never forget it. You start to lose your self little by little until nothing exists anymore, and you start to feel like you are just another object in the world. When Elie and the jews got liberated they all knew and felt like they had changed into a whole different person. They were no longer the sweet happy people before the holocaust they had now turned into sad depressed souls.
In the book “Night, by Elie wiesel, he describes to us how his attitude changed from when he first got to the camp all the way to the liberation.
Elie talking about his change in attitude said” Had i changed so much, then? So quickly? Now remorse began to gnaw at me. I Thought only. I Shall never forgive them for that”. When did Elie become such a hateful boy?he had changed so much just from one day to the next. In the book Elie showed us the cause of his change which was seeing his big role model get humiliated whom was his father. His father was like a hero to him and since Elie did not see his father stand up for himself instead just lay there scared not being able to say anything, then what could he do? The holocaust had a big impact on people, but mostly it was the jews. They were the ones who went through that horrible century. They lived in death and saw death everywhere they went so how much can that mentally damage a
person.
Elie and all the jews were dehumanized because the Natzis saw them and turned them into animals. Elie's book gives us a glimpse of how life in camp was from the inside and out. He describes to us the real meaning of what happens to a person when seeing a loved one die and how that can really
