Gardo – First entry
It worked! I convinced sister Olivia to take me to the prison. I knew I had to freshen up and could not go to the prison the way I was. They would not let in a kid from Behala looking like this in, but where I came from was not what mattered. I looked like a walking trash bag and these days the way you dress is how you are judged. Whether you are treated with respect or complete contempt can depend just on your clothing. So I knew I needed to change, I asked sister Olivia whether we could go and buy some clothes for me. I think she also knew that I could not go like this, so we had hailed a taxi and went on our way to a clothing store.

We did not talk much and this gave me a chance to have a good look at Gardo. He was staring out the window, and I saw his face by looking at the reflection of the window, I noticed a slight grin on his face. This made me feel great as well, because I knew how much those clothes meant to him. As we started to get closer I noticed that he was no longer grinning but looked serious, then again there is nothing happy about going to a prison. We had now arrived and were driving up to the entrance, I was looking up and the high, concrete walls which had thick wires on top of them and thought to my self what must you have to do to be placed in a place like this? We had now waited over a hour just to enter the prison, they kept us outside in the cold until they were ready. As we went trough the process we were treated like absolute shit, we were treated as if we were the ones who were going to get locked up. We received imitating looks from everyone who worked there and we were herded into small, dark and cold rooms like we were sheep. Time passes as then we were then called by a man who was big and looked as if he had experienced a lot, he was the one who walked us down to the cell that Gardo’s grandfather was staying
