A very wise author named Sonya Teclai once wrote, "Underestimation of a person's intelligence, strength, and aggression just makes you less prepared. Expect anything from anyone." In the story "Noah and the Flood, " God surely proved his intelligence, strength, and aggression to the evils of the earth. In the story "Noah and the Flood" God saw that the world was full of corruption and lawlessness so he decided to send a great flood to extinguish all of the earth's evilness. God saw no fault in Noah and entrusted him with the task of building an enormous ark to shelter Noah along with his wife, his three sons accompanied by each of their wives, and two of every animal on earth from the flood. The earth was flooded for forty days and forty nights until god sent a great wind to subside the seas and dry the land. once more and to multiply, and they did as they were commanded. Throughout the story, "Noah and the Flood" found in the King James bible, God's traits, dialogue, and actions characterize him as potent.
God is characterized as potent due to his traits which were displayed in the story "Noah and the Flood." As the lord saw how wicked man, which he created, had gotten he was enraged.
An example of this is , " And the lord regretted that he had made man on earth, and his heart was saddened. The lord said, 'I will blot from the earth the man whom I created – men together with beasts, creeping things, and the birds of the sky; for I regret that I made them"(tachuk 60). God is appalled by the amount of evil that is in the world so he decides he's going to kill all living things on earth. This shows that God can have great effects because he feels regretful and quickly decides that he will end the lives of all that roams the earth. Through God's diction it can be recognized that he has the most power of everyone on earth. God's traits of being caring and regretful show how much influence he has in the world. The fact that God can care so much that he is saddened and regretful and is able to decide that he will wash out all life on earth shows how potent he
is.
Furthermore, God is characterized as potent through his dialogue. After informing Noah of the flood, God directed Noah through a series of commands in order for Noah and his family to survive the great flood. An example of this is when god spoke to Noah and said, "'And of every clean animal you shall take seven pairs, males and their mates, of every animal which is not clean, two a male and it's mate; of the birds of the sky also, seven pairs, male and female to keep seed alive upon all the earth. For in seven days time I will make it rain upon all the earth, forty days and forty nights, and I will blot out from the earth all existence that I created.' And Noah did as God commanded him" (tachuk 61). God is commanding Noah to gather animals for the aftermath of the flood. This further demonstrates god as being and extremely influential character because he speaks to Noah in such a demanding manner and as a result Noah does not ask question nor does he make comments at all, instead Noah does what he is told. God is authoritative and demanding with his words when speaking to Noah which further reveal how potent God is.
