Nomadic to Permanent Civilization: Good or Bad Decision Jared Diamond considered Paleolithic Era to the Neolithic Era to be “The worst mistake in the history of the human race. He made some eye opening statements and realization based on life expectancy, health, and quality of life. In my opinion, this needed change was a good decision no matter the downsides. The Nomad did not want to sacrifice the innocent lives of their people as their population increased slowly. Their discovery of agricultural skills made a sufficient compromise for them to support themselves. Jared Diamond mentions repeatedly about the significant health changes as a cause of the conversion but in my opinion, the changes were something that the peoples may or may not
have considered and may have speculated the consequences of this change of lifestyle. The former nomads have made no mistake for if they have civilization probably would not have survived for this long all the way to today. This conversion led to a future of technological advances as time went on. Considering the changes of the Earth recorded over time the nomadic lifestyle would have still come to a halt. Diamond point about the spread of diseases and infections were a valid point but the nomads would have maybe would have run into this issue eventually. In conclusion, the nomads' conversion to permanent civilization was a good decision.
