Norm Breaking Norms

The norm I will be breaking will be showing up to a party appropriately, and I will break the norm by showing up with a horse mask during the party. I chose to break this norm because I find horses and horse masks oddly appealing on the internet, and I think showing up to parties appropriately is a norm because it is not common to wear masks to non-themed parties. I also chose to break this norm because I own a horse mask, but have not figured out the perfect moment to wear it. The norm breaking event would have me show up to the party and ask for bathroom locations. Once I enter the bathroom, I will put the horse mask on, and then come back out to see their reactions. I might also perform silly or ridiculous actions, such as pretending to be a horse and frolicking around in an unfamiliar neighborhood. I have told my friends to follow me around while I am doing this activity, in case somebody calls the cops on me for wearing a horse mask in public. I have not broken any norms on purpose or worn the mask very often, so I might take off the horse mask
It plays a role in our social environment because norms are not usually spoken rules and are usually expected to be followed. Norms are things that are considered as normal and usual, while norm breaking would be considered as deviant. I think norms came from society. If people are in a group, they may create some activities are considered as norms while others are not. Perhaps norms also came from authorities and those of high standing position. Maybe they chose to create various norms and expected others to follow them. Norms can be structural and agentic. Some norms are strictly structural because breaking them may be frowned upon, damage a person’s reputation, and lead to consequences.
