Identity is what you are, what a person looks or acts like, and what makes people unique. My identity is unique, and I am drastically different from my friends and family. Regarding ethnic heritage, my background is Pakistan, my nationatlity is Canadian, my religion is Islam and I actively practice it every day. These aspects of my identity is what makes me similar to most of my friends, while my physical, emotional, and mental features is what differentiates me from them.

His poems contain layer upon layer of depth and meaning. One of his most famous poems, featured in the Outsiders, is titled “Nothing Gold Can Stay.” This poem is a perfect example of this, as line upon line, stanza upon stanza, is symbolic of many things in life. To me, the poem symbolizes a few circumstances that relate to real life. First, the author is trying to say foremost that nothing good can last forever. In life, you will have items and people you love without a doubt. However, through lines such as “Then leaf subsides to leaf” and “So dawn goes down to day”, you can tell that these beloved aspects of your life are blessings that come and go. Sometimes people might die, treasured items may get lost or break, etc. In a similar aspect, the poem also can mean that nothing will BE the same after things change. Your opinion of things, the way you view others, can change, especially with age. People like your old friends will not stay the same either, as they may change as they grow up. After reading the Outsiders, I realize how much this poem actually means to me. It is something that I will definitely remember when faced with a trial, and I will remember what it meant to Ponyboy and Johnny, too.
