Lab 7.1-7.2
2/1/2015
7.1.1There are no limitations on WANs so they can be custom built for the size of the organization. For the purpose of organizational expansion.
Exercise 7.1. The longer the distance the more chances that you have for signal loss and lack of signal strength.
Exercise 7.1.3 Media Infrastructure SummaryUTP Phone Lines Used in telephone cables and computer networkingCoaxial Television Cable Include feedlines connecting radio transmitters and receivers with their antennas, computer network (Internet) connections, and distributing cable television signals.Fiber-optic Can be used in optical illumination; computer networkingUses a customized infrastructure to run dedicated connections; this is a costly option.Electric power lines Generating power between power plants and electrical substationsThis type of media can be used with Broadband over Power Lines (BPL), making use of the extensive infrastructer
7.1 Review The quality of UTP may vary from telephone-grade wire to extremely high-speed cable. It uses most popular in school network. Coaxial can support great cable lengths between network devices. Coaxial cable has been popular in school networks, especially linear bus networks
7.2.1
Leased line have many advantages such as high speeds, fast uploads, good reliability, and better support. The limitations are the cost of using leased line and keep the line in good condition.
7.2.2
7.2.1 – You are always connected by have limited flexibility.
7.2.2 – partial mesh allows some integration, full mesh is good for depots, full mesh does not integrate with others well
7.2.3 – it allows for more direct communication, but it cannot connect well with other nodes
7.2.4 –
7.2 review
1. PPP is the directional movement of data between nodes, you use it to move data to specific places.
2. WAN transmits signals while the LAN is able to transmit direct electrical pulses.
