It is very different from the narrative used with patients, as the narrative tones are different. A nurse’s job is to advocate for their patients. In order to do this their narrative towards doctors is required to be meaningful. They are meaningful and need to be straight forward in order to keep the best interest for the patient and to get the interest of the medical team to get the best care they can receive. This narrative is limited because the nurse is capable and often required to limit the story in the amount of information that is passed on from the nurse. One of the jobs of the nurse is to get to know the patient and then transfer any information that he/she deems important onto the doctor, or the rest of the medical team. This style is a limited and discursive narrative, meaning that not all of the information or events are passed on or told is chronological order. Often times the most important events of the narrative are told first because they are the most important and have a greatest impact on the patient’s health. Usually other less significant events leading up to the main event or occurred after the main event are told after the initial treatment plan is being provided or not at all as they have no significance. This written narrative is one of the most important parts of the nursing narrative and is and ongoing narrative that is developing though out the patients care. This is a place in which all members of the team can be up to date with the information being learned about the case or treatment plan in motion. The important pieces of this written narrative are similar to the verbal narrative. The written narrative is precise, objective and to the point. It is a means of collecting all the information in one area, so all members of the medical team can have the same knowledge on a case. These written narrative are impersonal and strictly used as a communication member to other members of the medical team. They include detail, but not an excess of detail. There is enough information to get a clear picture of the
