Obedience By Stanley Milgram Analysis
People follow orders from authority figures because they think it is the right thing to do, in The Milgram Experiment the author explains, “Their defense was often based on ‘obedience’”(McLeod 1). Many people in WWII were accused of murder and McLeod believes they only murdered because they were told to do so. Many tests have been ran to see the level of harm a person will cause another human by command. In Milgram's experiment, “The shock generator that the "teacher" was told to operate had 30 switches in 15 volt increments, each switch was labeled with a voltage ranging from 15 up to 450 volts”(Obedience to Authority The experiments by Stanley Milgram).
