Obesity
Obesity has become a major epidemic among adults, children and adolescents. It is a high health risk that needs to be fixed immediately, rather than later before it destroys the next generation. We, as parents and the Government, need to address this problem before lives are destroyed by this fast spreading disease.
We need to find a solution to get rid of this disease, before this problem becomes a major epidemic. The lives of our children are precious and future generations are already endangered. The Obesity epidemic can be stopped through a healthy diet and healthy lifestyle. Avoiding junk food and processed foods can limit problems. Consuming vegetables, combined with fruits can increase your well-being. Daily workouts through physical activities, can burn fat and fatty accumulation. In the article, Obesity: ( 2013) An Overview by Ellen Bailey and Ann Griswold PhD., the authors discuss the history of obesity, as well as obesity today. They believe that obesity is a big problem in America, and something needs to be done about it. “Obesity has been linked to a number of health problems, including diabetes and heart disease; however, the social problems facing obese people are often over looked” (1) states the authors. Obesity is killing people slowly. It all depends on what health problems you end up with. The authors also express that, “Overweight children, in particular, can be socially and psychologically harmed by their peers’ criticism about their weight.” To solve obesity, adults need to have a change of lifestyle, with regular exercise. If one wants to lose weight, all it comes down to is discipline and hard work. Diets may work, because it helps people lose weight faster. The chances of regaining body weight, is also equally quicker. As parents and consumers, it is very important that we understand the danger in being obese and the health risk we can encounter.
