Observation Report Child Development

I was able to go to the Child Development Lab and observe a little girl that looked to be the age of two. She was wearing a really cute outfit that consisted of a polar bear sequence long sleeve, black leggings, and some really nice nike’s. Her hair was in a really well done braid that started from the top of her head to the middle of her lower back. When I arrived she was playing at the train track station with an aid and a little boy. I noticed right away that she had to always have the aids attention. She did extremely well in identifying what pieces of the train track went next to make the track bigger. Also she knew really well the number of blocks she need to complete the track and made it a point that the little boy was not to help her finish the track. As the time came to clean up, she was really helpful to the aid and the other children in different stations. Once she finished cleaning her station, she asked for help to carry the tube of train tracks to their place then went to ask others if they needed help cleaning up their stations.
I noticed, once again, that she had to be sitting next to an aid. During story time, she would poke and touch the aid all throughout the story and the main teacher had to make a comment to her to stop touching the aid. After being told to stop, she did not touch the aid again. After reading the story, the teacher asked the children to give a story of about their favorite soup. My observant child raised her hand and gave her story of her favorite soup. She was able to use complete sentences with a slight “ummm” every once in awhile. All in all, she did quite well during story time by follow directions of the aids and teacher, being able to repeat after the teacher and by remembering the saying of the
