were introduce by the company Motorola in the 1970 's and they could weigh up to two pounds and cost up to $4,000. The first smartphone came out in 1993 and it had a touch screen and aloud user to access their emails and send faxes. The smartphone that we know of today has so many cool features that a regular cellphone does not have, like GPS, game apps, and the ability to surf the web on their phone. Smartphones are used just as much for calling and texting as they are for games and other necessities. Cellphones only has the ability to make phone calls and a few have the ability to record video. Another use of some smartphones is how they can talk to you and answer questions you may have. The Apple iPhone was the first to do this with their iPhone 4s introduced in the form of Siri. Another advancement in the technology world was the Ipad introduced by Apple in April of 2010.
Even though there were minor flaws with this it was still very popular. The original Ipad only came with 256MB of RAM and was soon overshadowed by Apple 's iPhone 4. The Ipad2 was launched in March of 2011 and brought many new things like 1GB of RAM, a camera, and the ipad2 also became lighter and slimmer. With the ipad2 resolution became even better and easier to see things. Within a year after the first release of the Ipad, Apple, managed to make a newer version almost ten times better. Apple 's product, the Mac, has had a huge rival for the dominant role in the computer industry. The rival is Windows PC. There are many who believe Mac is better and there are many who believe PC are better, but in theory, which is better? Mac was first introduced in 1979. the original idea behind the first Mac was to provide a cheap and easy computer to use. One thing that is special about the Mac around the time it was first introduced is it was one of the first operating systems to use an entirely GUI. The Windows, however, was introduced in 1983. Windows offered many new things for the time period it was in. Windows changed the GUI into a modern operating system over two families of design, each with its own codebase and default file …show more content…
system. Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter are just a few social media centers that are wildly popular in todays society. It seems as if people have become more nosey in the past few decades. These social media centers are fun by providing game apps, news, and letting you catch up with old friends, but what few know is how this may affect your life. Businesses now may look at things that you have posted over time on these websites. Much of the things posted by people won 't affect what the employer 's decision will be, but things like “hey does anyone got bud” or “I was so high and drunk last night that i don 't remember anything” may have negative impacts on his or hers thoughts on you and how you may succeed in their company. Also some people may not block their profile information from strangers. This can have negative effects because if a total stranger gets ahold of the right information they can ruin your life and never get in any trouble because they have done so over the computer. Recently many kids have committed suicide due to the fact of complete strangers posting pictures of them or harassment from fellow classmates. New laws have been instituted in hope of trying to stop cyber bullying. Televisions are a wonderful, whether it is for watching Sunday night football, comedy central, or even flipping through the channels. The technology of a computer has progressed so much in so little time. The original TV had only a few channels and was black and white. Then the TV gained a few more channels and became colored. The remote that many people take for granted was not always around. Recently inventions like the 3D television have come about. It was unheard of when 3D first came to the movie theaters and no one believed that it could ever be brought home, but it was. What many lack to realize is how the show ends up on TV. No matter if you have dish, cable, or direct TV, the process behind it is huge. The companies behind it all have a staff on duty everyday of the week for 24 hours straight just to keep their customers happy and to keep the money rolling in. There are many great game systems in today’s world. A few big ones are the PS3, Xbox360, and the Wii. The company in charge of the PS3 is Sony, Microsoft is in charge of the Xbox360, and Nintendo takes care of the Wii. The Wii was one of the best selling systems; it blew past sales previously made by the Xbox360 and PS3. The technology at the time was remarkable. The idea of moving while playing video games was unheard of, but when people got the Wii it was soon found out that it was not as good as everyone thought it would be and soon became unpopular. The PS3 was the first after the Wii to make something that came close to the technology used to make the Wii. Then the Xbox360 introduced something even better. Your body became the controller and there was no remote. All this only occurred within a few years of each other and even better things are anticipated for the new versions of the Wii, PS3, and Xbox. Technology in cars is also advancing at a tremendously fast rate.
Henry Ford made the original car in 1908. The first automobile maxed out at 25mph, which now seems like nothing, but back then it was fast compared to locomotives and horse and carriage. The cars now can have everything from Gps to satellite radio and can top out at over 200mph. In over a hundred years cars have grown so much and there is even talk of amphibious vehicles to make their debut
soon. Advances in technology have been huge throughout history in such little time. Advances in Smartphones all the way to military technology have thrived in such a short amount of time. If we continue to advance at such a fast rate that we have no idea how far along civilization could be in the next 100 years. Work Cited
