I did know, however, that I wanted to work within the healthcare industry. Over the years, I learned about many different careers in healthcare and what each job consisted of. Although they all appeared interesting, Occupational Therapy caught my eye for many reasons. First, there is nothing I love more than helping others. I find it very exciting to have an interest in a field that uses everyday activities as the overall purpose and end goal of therapy. It is truly fascinating how individuals function physically, mentally, and emotionally and how these areas connect with one another. Occupational Therapy links mind and body and allows this connection to help individuals meet their goals of daily living. It is a very diverse field with a large variety of options. It encourages creativity as well as a unique thought process. Being an Occupational Therapist gives you the opportunity to connect with individuals on a personal level. It takes a caring individual to be an Occupational Therapist and I feel as though I possess all the qualities necessary. In most cases, the work you do is just as important to the families of the individuals you are treating. I would love the chance to make a huge impact upon many lives as an Occupational Therapist. Most importantly, Occupational Therapy is fun and a life-changing career. What could be better and more rewarding than helping others reach their goals in
