Overall, victimisation is the process of individuals becoming the victim. There are two types of victims and they are known as primary and secondary. Primary victims have experienced the crime directly and have either suffered injury, trauma or death. Secondary victims are either present or injured at the scene
of the crime. These could include family members or people living within the community. This paper has critically analysed secondary victimisation and it has also analysed the laws associated with victimisation. Although there are services in place to provide aid to victims there are still improvements to be made to the Criminal Justice System. Reforms should be in place to reduce the impact on victims who are subjected to criminal offences.
