Public health has a responsibility to prepare and respond to all disasters, natural or manmade (Schneider and Schneider, 2017). The role public health had in this disaster was to communicate emergency planning and preparedness for the disaster (Schneider and Schneider, 2017). From the lecture by Horack, he stated, communication is the best tool (Horack, 2010). Through radio and new forecasts individuals were aware of the situation. Responding to disasters and emergencies are also an important aspect of public health. In an article by Querry and KFor-TV, the Oklahoma Department of Forestry asked for additional help to provide relief to those fighting the fire (Querry and KFor-TV, 2017).
