Looking at all other people who have changed their religion in and around the village, I always felt that I would never change my culture, but I really want to change my religion. I wish I could do something to stop the white men spreading their influence to people, but it’s too late for it. Instead, of me seeing people greeting with kola nut, celebrating Igbo festivals and seeing them play ekwe, I see people following what white people are telling them to do. The white-men made new festivals, like Christmas and Easter and most of the converters, enjoy these festivals.This village will soon or later not be the village it used to be, but would be a village with a totally different culture. I sometimes feel scared of the white people that they might harm other people who haven't started following their culture.The white men built a lot of churches, schools and hospitals here in Umuofia. After the death of Okonkwo, Ezinma showed remarkable resilience in dealing with difficult conditions. She is the only person in Okonkwo’s family, who hasn’t changed her religion. People would laugh at her if they see her farming. Because there is nothing for women to do in a farm. And, because she is living alone, she has run her small house alone. Sometimes people will joke that Ezinma drinks palm-wine. I remembered when Okonkwo would sit in my obi with me drink palm-wine, he would say, he wished that Ezinma was a boy. Surprisingly Ezinma has not yet married and rejected many suitors. She is the beauty of Umuofia. Few days after the death of Okonkwo people started making rumors of such disgrace act he did. Villagers called him what they called his father; effeminate. His father died of a sickness and was not buried because it was a sign of evil spirit. For Okonkwo, he was buried but wasn’t touched by the villages and no one really mourned for him because it’s against the customs and an abomination for a man to take his own life. People came to a point that Okonkwo’s family has evil spirit and whoever goes near the house or talk to any of Okonkwo’s family member would get that evil spirit, so people paid no respect to Okonkwo’s family, so expect for Ezinma everyone changed their religion in Okonkwo's family.
