On the orcal it showed Ikemefuna has to be killed, so Okonkwo lied to Ikemefuna to take him back to his original clan, but on the way going there, Ikemefuna is under attack by a man with machete, he asked for help from Okonkwo, saying he only want to see his mother for once, and Okonkwo’s flaw came to him, and he killed his “son” to show he isn’t weak. After returning from the 7 years exile, the world around Okonkwo changed dramatically, in only three years, he realized his home has because a place of european colonist, the europeans came in and company with many local africans, and they built hospital, church and school. Even everythings seems to be going well Okonkwo did not welcome those outsiders, in fact most of the africans did not, it could be identified from the religion issues, the europeans and the locals did not believe the same god, Mr. Brown said there was only one god that created everything, but the locals believed that there are multiple god that made the nature, the return argument from Mr. Brown is that the god africans believed in are woods, stone, water not real gods. The longer the europeans stay, the more angry Okonkwo is, but the key point is, because of the arrival of the europeans, his popularity and his fame is going down and down, he realize he is no longer the most powerful/successful man in this village.
