Entry #1: Today I went into town to see if Old Finn was getting better. Since the last time I went to see him they said that they would need to see my mother to give her all the information. I had to lie and tell them that mother would be there to see them, I could not tell them the truth. I went to Miss Addie’s and she them covered me in makeup and gave me a wig to dress up older so that I would look just like mother. It takes three miles to get into town, but once I got to the hospital, Susie at the front desk knew it was me. Once she said my name I ran into the bathroom and stuffed my wig into my bag and washed all of the makeup of my face,

Once we got done placing our signs around the highway hoping lots of rich tourist would see and at least spend a dollar, we needed anything to get to be able to see Old Finn again. Then finally about twenty minutes after we got home from placing the signs up our first customer appeared, a snobby old mother with two spoiled rich kids. I could then tell this was not going to go down well. First what I remember was that she was being rude to Nightingale she was making fun of her pajamas. All she was doing was sitting on our broken swing set smoking lots of cigars. Before this I told baby to not sare or personal information with the customers, so i just wanted to do the talking. He then did not follow what I said, and told the rude mom that father was dead. The two boys hopped on the ponies and were having so much fun that they would not get of after their turn was up. So, I then had to stop one of the ponies to yank the first child of. I all i did was gently lift the boy of, but he then kicked me in the gut. Witch made me drop the boy only about a half a foot. He then started to yell and cry saying that his ankle was broken. I knew it was not. Even though we had a horrible first customer we were not ready to give up, not just

It was late at night, the wind was blowing, the storm was raging, and the power was out. Everyone in my house was in the basement bailing water, or holding flashlights so the people bailing could see where the water laid. Suddenly, the phone starts to ring, I run upstairs to get it. It was Shayanna. She had called to tell me that I had made the part of Susan in the play if I was interested. I went and got my mom, who was sopping up water with some towels at the time, and told her that Shayanna wanted me to play the part of Susan, and that Shayanna would like to talk to her.…

Huck Finn's much-discussed "moral crises" in chapters 16 and 31 of Adventures of Huckleberry Finn are conventionally regarded as climactic moments in the ongoing drama of his moral growth. Underwriting such readings is the notion that they reveal Huck's dynamic character, his dawning recognition of Jim's humanity and his gradual rejection of his society's racism. But running beneath and opposing this narrative of Huck's moral growth is a counter narrative of moral backsliding, within which Huck persists in denying the legitimacy of his relationship with Jim; he continues, in other words, to see Jim as a "nigger" and himself as, even worse, a "nigger-stealer."…

This experience has been one of the most outlandish and eerie that one could of imagined. Most things in life can be explained rationally and with little thought to the reason or logic behind them, however what I have experienced is quite the conflicting to what I would usually be inclined to think. There must be some type of phenomenon that makes one feel as though one has left the natural world. These occurrences leave no room for logic, rationalization or justification.…

In Mark Twain’s novel, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, the young protagonist Huckleberry Finn runs away from his abusive father with Jim, a black slave. Throughout the novel, Huck encounters people that fail to understand the injustice of slavery and violence, despite their education. Although Huck lacks any substantial education, his moral values and judgment are highly developed. In the novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Mark Twain uses uneducated, colloquial diction and deliberate syntax to provide ironic contrast between Huck’s rudimentary level of education and profound use of moral judgment.…

Early yesterday morning, I saw that Cecilia Kang at the Washington Post had a story up about the years-long fight for white spaces entitled: Tech, telecom giants take sides as FCC proposes large public WiFi networks. It struck me as odd, because so much in the article seemed... wrong or misleading. The main part about efforts to finally do something with the old TV spectrum isn't anything new at all. We first wrote about the FCC "proposing" this back in 2004 and have covered it a few times since. The FCC has been trying to use some of that TV spectrum for better, more efficient and more useful endeavors. It's been an ongoing battle that feels like it's never going to end. The short version is that TV broadcasters got a ton of free spectrum many years ago (just look at how giant chunks of the spectrum chart belong to TV broadcasters). A big part of the move to digital TV was to force broadcasters to give up a chunk of wasted, valuable spectrum that can be turned into (among other things) some useful wireless services. TV broadcasters hate this and have been fighting it in a variety of ways.…

This happened when I first moved to Kansas. It was the middle of summer and there were no kids around close to my age so I was alone. First i named some roses that were in my front lawn and drew pictures with them of crappy looking rabbits because that was all I knew how to draw. my mom came home one day and I ran up to her and showed her the pictures, saying "And this one rosy drew, and this one Rosetta drew and this one I drew." when I was done my mom said clearly not understanding that they were not real "what house do your friends live in?" Like the dumb kid i was i responded "oh they don't have a house they live in our front yard." Extremely confused and probably creeped out my moms said "can i meet these friends?" It was then I told…

When I got to St. Vincent’s hospital I thought I was in labor but the doctor said my water wasn’t broken yet. So I had to walk up and down the hallway for the baby to come down. Then finally the doctor pulled my water. And oh my god I was in so much pain. The nurse said” Keep pushing, the baby is almost out.” With a final push I had my baby. She was the most beautiful little baby with dark hair and big light brown eyes. I called Diana.…

It all began with shopping. First with my girlfriends over the years, goofing off on trips to the mall trying on gorgeous flowing gowns for fun, and then it was finally time for me to buy one, finally a formal occasion where I got to dress up in a fancy gown with high heels, my Mom took me to the mall. Even though it wasn’t quite prom, it was still a formal dance, a celebration of completing middle school and entering into high school. While I shopped with my Mom I could sense her excitement for me. It was exciting and special for her to see her little girl growing up. We shopped and shopped, I must’ve tried on a hundred dresses until I found the perfect one. It was pink with tiny embroidered flowers all over. I completed my look with strappy silver heels, silver jewelry and a hand bag.…

I had to wait about fifteen minutes for mom to come back. It was so boring. All the old people did was nap, and rock in rocking chairs, and play old timey games like chess. I was so relieved when mom finally came out of the office and we left. As we drove away, I thought to myself, ‘I hope when I’m old, my family doesn’t put me in a nursing home. It’s a horrible place to live!’…

I was just on time because the pancakes were about to be ready. After…

We were so happy, I started explaining to her where we were, how the place looked like and that there was a big garbage can, as I explain tears dripped from my eyes. We hugged each other, cried, and stayed put right next to the garbage can. We finally saw my mother’s silver BMW car. We slowly walked towards the car, making sure that it was my mother or one of our parents are in there. I then saw my mother did something with her hand, I know what that meant to hurry up, I told my little cousins to hurry up and get in the car, we ran as fast as we could towards the car and got in. Since then my little cousins and I learned a very big and important lesson that we will never forget, it to your pacings with your family, close and to tell them that you need a break if you are losing your…
