Christianity 1313 Old Testament Comprehensive Assignment
I would like to thank the Brazilian government and the archdiocese of Rio de Janeiro for awarding me with $5 million to design and build a 100-ft tall statue on Sugarloaf Mountain. I understand that this statue is meant to complement the Christ the Redeemer statue that overlooks the city and should serve as a representative of the Old Testament by in the same manner Christ the Redeemer represents the central figure of the New Testament, Jesus Christ.

The answer is that Jesus was the actualization of the prophecy of the seed of David (2 Samuel 7:12–16). Jesus is the promised Messiah, which means He had to be of the lineage of David. Matthew 1 gives the genealogical proof that Jesus, in His humanity, was a direct descendant of Abraham and David through Joseph, Jesus’ legal father. The genealogy in Luke 3 traces Jesus’ lineage through His mother, Mary. Jesus is a descendant of David by adoption through Joseph and by blood through Mary. “As to his earthly life [Christ Jesus] was a descendant of David” (Romans 1:3). This represents Moses’ insistence that the people listened to God for themselves. “I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Holding the Tablets of the Law
Secondly, Moses will hold and display the Tablets of the Law, also known as Tablets of Stone, Stone Tablets, or Tablets of Testimony to show that he received the law that Jesus fulfilled. It is important that Moses holds two slabs of stone inscribed with the Ten Commandments as recorded in the Book of Exodus. (Exodus 31:18) to represent the stone tablet he breaks when he returns from Sinai and sees the people worshiping a golden calf (31:18; 32:1–24) and the new tablet of stone to replace those that he has broken.
