Olivia Zamora Research Paper

On May 15, 2017 I Interviewed Olivia Zamora about what It means to be American to her. She comes from a humble family. When she was 17 she arrived to America, where she would work to provide a good living for her family. Growing up in Mexico compared to the United states was different for her, as she didn’t know the language, streets, or the people. She had to face very difficult decisions, where it would change her life completely and let go of people she deeply cared about. Olivia, is very open minded and respects everyone no matter the color skin, race, religion, and beliefs. According to Olivia, the American dream to her is having a life full of opportunities, having a good job, and making dreams come true. She believes that all of this
leads to having a better life. As a mother of four she wants her kids to have a better education than she did and have a better, secure, stable future. Olivia, chose to live in America at the age of 17 because she wanted to live in a country of liberty and she wanted to escape violence that haunted her in her country. As she felt unsafe and in danger everyday, Olivia knew that this was something she didn’t want to spend her years in and definitely where she didn’t want her kids growing up. Olivia’s status didn’t prevent her from fulfilling the American dream she has ambitions to become a harding working person and she had her mind set about if you’re really dedicated to something despite your status you can achieve your methods or goals, it all just takes motivation. Olivia strongly believes that her culture is different from the American culture. In her culture kids grow up knowing what hard work is like as they start working with their parents had a young a age, in her experience she started working at the age of 10. While, Americans tradition is finishing school, working, and studying a career.
