Delaney states that "Man is born free but is everywhere in chains." This is implying that each and every one of us are forced into a clothing style. Clothing is what we are labeled by. However, to have our own style is important though. Being labeled helps find others who are like us. It is stated that clothing can have its distinctions. Greenlaw stated when she moved people were giving her "compliments" but they were actually commenting on her differences. Greenlaw went through a stage of finding herself. First it was going disco to fit in with the rest of the girls, but yet at the end she found her tomboyish side rubbing into a punk style. This was hard for her at some point along of the line because she was a girl. Most girls at the time did not fall into the punk category, so when there finally was a girl in this group, guys thought this meant she was willing to get intimate with them, while in reality, she just wanted to be friends with the people in the group she fell
