On The Job Reflection Paper
Reflection Paper: On The Job
The movie presented an instance of the reality of contract killings, abuse of power, corruption and poverty. I know about these issues, but only after watching the movie did I realize that what I know were limited. And with the things that I’ve seen and learned, I can’t help but feel troubled and miserable.
Having seen the movie, here’s a quote which made me reflect about the reality… “For the love of money is the root of all evil.” People are willing to do anything for the LOVE OF MONEY. When people have money, they tend to gain fame and power, which are exactly the reasons why corruption exists and impossible to eradicate. Just like the government officials, Gen. Pacheco for instance, it is easy for him to manipulate and control those under him in exchange of bribes. Like Tatang and Daniel, they receive money in exchange of killing people who are threats to their boss. Certain individuals don’t seem to mind whether their means are unjust or illegal. This should not be the case because otherwise people will justify their bad actions based on the good they have done. And as long as this deceit continues, resolving the issues of the system is a hopeless case.
What affected me the most was about how their respect for life was gone. It seemed so easy for them to hire or kill people who are stumbling blocks to their plans. What made it worse was that the state itself uses its power to hire criminals and make them part of a great anomaly. No problem if they get caught because they will still go back to where they came from. But how about the people who find ways to correct the anomalies and go against the corrupt, they are mercilessly killed before they spill the beans, like Atty. Coronel and Acosta. I just suddenly thought, am I not enjoying the benefit of safety under Mayor Duterte, having the DDS, which is sort of connected to contract killings? Having the topic on Davao Death Squad reaching the United Nations proves that it

Another reason why this movie is a good movie is because the problems that occur in the movie are still occurring until this day all around the world; just in a different form. One domestic and probably global issue that relates to the movie is the problem of police brutality. All over the United States there has been many cases of police brutality. In many instance there has been case of white officers killing unarmed black men. For example, the Eric Gardner case, when he was choked to death by a police officer because they thought he was someone else. The Michael Brown case, when an officer had him at gunpoint and he shot Michael Brown nine times when he didn’t have to shoot him once. This issue has been going on for awhile. For example,…

Prior to watching this movie I didn’t know how badly the women and children had it. I didn’t know how below poverty the how whole country was. Another thing that I really didn’t know is how much forgiveness the women had for those who did such bad things to others. The women and children were placed last compared to the men and the higher people of the government and because of that they had so much hardships put on them due to starvation. For me I would find it very hard to just forgive and forget the things that had been going on for so long. I would find it hard to trust people because I wouldn’t feel safe around them knowing that not that long ago they were shooting, killing, and raping innocent people.…

In the workplace, dealing with issues immediately as they arise can alleviate a worse situation from occurring. Hoping that issues will work themselves out if enough time’s permitted may work for certain situations, but others can continue to get worse especially when several individuals get involved. A situation that the agency had to deal with previously and is still being discussed to this day is concerning an employee that was in supervision. This supervisor was harsh when dealing with the individuals that were under her supervision. The animosity she created between the employees became a day to day event. The employees felt as though they were unable to speak with her concerning this due to the supervisor making it difficult for…

Testimonies can bring even more power to the already powerful gospel story. When I think of powerful testimonies I think of Billy Sunday’s testimony. Sunday was a professional baseball player, and was also a drunk. Sunday was drunk one day with a few of his buddies, and someone invited him to the Pacific Garden Mission where he was saved.…

Many people engage in community service project because they are either forced as a punishment or sentence. Others engage in community service out of Spirit of unselfishness, or a desire to connect with their communities by helping out. For me, it brings a sense of completeness. During the past few semester my team members and I have engage in different projects, Collecting food, clothes and donating to the homeless. In a way I’ve experience working the different organizations and helping the community. But with this particular project, it meant much more then collecting for the disadvantaged, It was about lending a hand and your heart to a community in need.. During my involvement in this fieldwork project I got the opportunity to offer my unconditional assistance for one day in a non-profit making community based project. The name of the project was Liberty City Construction, which is being undertaken by a Christian ministry organization whose aim is to improve the livelihood of low-income families through building affordable and decent houses at a 0% interest rate. The assessment results come out that I am an “ESFJ” person and my Holland Interest Codes are “ASC”. During the assessment test I scored a 28 on artistic, a 25 on social, a 20 on conventional, an 18 on enterprising, a 9 on Realistic and a 5 on investigative. As you can see, some of my scores are really close together, however, the three that stood out are artistic, social and conventional. After reading all of the portraits, I would say I learn more about myself; however, there are some descriptions and points existed that are different with what I think about myself. Artistic people are people with artistic ability and appreciate making original work. They like dealing with ideas rather than things. I didn’t expect “A” as my highest code because I would say I enjoy dealing with things rather than ideas. The reason why “Artistic” has the most points is that probably I am interested in photograph and the test guides me to “A”. However, I just enjoy stopping along the way and shooting the…

There are a lot of books that have been written over what the different spiritual gifts are and how they are supposed to be used. There are quite a few verses in the New Testament that covers the spiritual gifts and how we are to use them. In 1 Corinthians 12:4-8 we are told, “Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the sane God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same spirit.” The Bible…
