Once More to the Lake by, E.B. White. Was a story about a father who wanted his son to experience the camp on the lake in Main that his father took him to as a child every summer on the first of August every summer. White referred to this lake as the “holy spot”. I think White referred to this lake as the “holy spot” because of the pure untouched beauty that nature must offer. The lake is place that no man can touch or change, the lake is peaceful, quiet. It is the one place that never changes. This was a special place for him. It was a place that his father took them every summer. Since white has grown up he has become a salt water man, but sometimes on a summer night he is brought back to the summer nights on the lake in Main. When he starts thinking about the smells, the sounds, the feeling of the lake, he wanted his son to have the same experience he had as a child. Therefore, white decided to take his son a trip to the lake in Main for a week, so that he may have the experience of seeing a dragonfly alight on the tip of his rod as it hovered a few inches from the …show more content…
Therefore, White had a feeling of nostalgia, he started feeling like he was doing the same exact thing that his father did while they were at the lake and that his son was doing the same exact thing he did as a child. On the last night at the lake it started to run and his son’s shorts were hanging on the drying line. All the kids started running to the lake to swim in the rain, his son wanted to join them when his son put the shorts on he felt a cold chill run up his back. White stated that he could feel the chill run up his back as well. He felt as if he was his son all over
