One Thousand Dollars, And By The Waters Of Babylon
Appernaces can be be deceptive. We ask ourselves "Can progress be made without conflict?" Througout the story, the big question keeps us wondering. In the three short stories; "A Visit to Grandmother", "One Thousand Dollars", and "By the Waters of Babylon", they all share a common theme: Things aren't always what they seem.

In "A Visit to Grandmother", Charles held on to so much hatred towards his mother and jealousy towards his younger brother for several years. Charles felt his mother had no love or care for him because she treated his younger brother, GL, differnet. She expressed that it wasn't done to make him feel a tyoe of way ,but, because GL was younger she needed to keep him clowe , and that she didn't love either one of them unequally.
