Operant conditioning is the result of a behavior learned that if it has positive outcome you most likely will continue that behavior if there is a negative outcome you most likely will not. Being in a committed relationship takes work and a lot of understanding. If my boyfriend and I get into a fight and I allow him to yell and scream at me, this would reinforce negative behavior and this would make me unhappy and I would not want to continue in that relationship. Over the years we have learned to communicated and speak to each other with respect if we disagree on a situation. By not accepting to scream and argue we have reinforcing positive behaviors in our relationship, which would be a good example of a negative punisher as well because we took away the disrespect which was not solving our issue.
