1.) Please write me a paragraph explaining your understanding of the difference between the terms "production management" and "operations management".
In the past, operations dealt primarily with manufacturing industries. The operations process within manufacturing industries deals with the inputs of raw materials, energy, labor, and capital which then are transformed into finished goods. Production management is the planning/organizing/management of systems related primarily to manufacturing industries. Nowadays, our economy handles the production of goods as well as the production of services. The operations process within service industries deals with the inputs of raw materials, energy, labor, and capital being transformed into service outputs. Operations management is the planning/organizing/management of systems related to manufacturing and service industries.
2.) Consider whether it would be a plus or a minus to develop a personal vision statement and whether it should be at the top of your resume or elsewhere or whether it should not be a part of your resume at all. If you were asked about it by a prospective employer, what would you say?
I think it would definitely be a plus to develop a personal vision statement. It helps to create a clear vision of your personal goals and where you plan to go. It also helps you to determine the decisions that you will make to get there. Although, I feel it is very beneficial to have a personal vision statement for your career, I think the resume is not the best place to put it.
Your resume is the first impression the potential employer has of you. If your vision statement is not in line with the company or department in which you are applying for, this can hurt your chances at getting the position. I also think it could be detrimental to your chances if it is poorly written. It could also limit your options within the company. A vision statement is a good focused idea of where the candidate is
