Opinions on Public Transportation
Public transportation is a form of transportation that many people depend on, including myself. Many people in high school, university and even people who need to work rely on these services. Not everyone can drive or afford to buy a car. Not to mention seniors who can no longer drive and don’t have any other way to get around. Of course there are some other solutions like a taxi for example. Taxis can be relatively expensive depending on how far your destination is. But how do people really feel about these services? Is it something they dislike in their everyday lives? Perhaps they have nothing against it and are actually grateful that this type of transportation exists. Observations need to be made to figure out how people feel about these services and what they do, where they sit, how they interact while in this environment. Now that this form of transportation has been cancelled for a period of time have people realized how much they have depended on this form of transportation? How much more of a hassle it is to not have it around? Or possibly the public have found a positive side to this issue. For example they might have started walking, biking, or even rollerblading. Which is a great way to start off the day and increasing their energy for school. The public find benefits from public transportation but I believe they also find disadvantages, either way it is better to have this choice of transportation around for people who rely on it.
Personally I have ridden the bus for at least 7-8 years. It is necessary for our society for many different reasons. There are many pros and cons with this form on transportation. Sharing public transportation is not a huge deal to me, but some people prefer their own space and don’t feel that the bus is very hygienic. Normally my preferred seat is the longer seat across from the back doors. It has more space and you get off the bus faster when it’s time for you stop. One of the advantages

I think everyone would agree with me that the local government should do something about those unreliable bus services. Here is the reason why I, and possible a lot of other people despise buses. So there you are waiting at a bus stop in the cold and it’s raining and you know exactly that you’re on time, waiting to be rescued from this terrible cold weather, but wait! You look at when your bus is coming; it says 7:55 am. So you say oh well only 5 minutes late. 10 minutes later you look at your watch, it says 8:10am but there is no sign of a bus. Obviously you will be standing there looking straight ahead, looking at the direction it normally comes from, you think it is around the corner. Meanwhile you still stand there, looking at your watch, it is 8:20 but the bus is still not here. As every other human being you start to get impatient especially as your standing in the cold and don’t forget it’s raining. You look at your watch and it is nearly 8:25 but the bus is still not here! Then you check when the next bus will normally arrive, then the next thing you see is your bus finally arriving but in pairs. So as usual when your bus arrives ‘super galactic’ late, they then usual arrive in pairs, now isn’t that hilarious? Also some are not in service and some just drive past you like you were never there.…

London, Birmingham, Manchester all has public transport and they are all horrendous. Don’t get me started on, if they are road works going on, strikes, and trains getting cancelled .The things which annoy me about public transport are, let’s take buses for example: Buses they are awful! On one December morning as you stand in the freezing cold as it rains and drip drop drip as the rain falls on you, your nose red as a tomato and your finger tips frozen as ice waiting for a bus, do you agree with me or not? As you just wait for the big bright lights to shine fiercely and to glow in the distance as you wait patiently. Trains are better but they still have negatives just like buses, with trains you just can’t even be a minute late because the train is just not going to wait, as you are running 100 miles per hour just like an athlete Usain Bolt as he runs like a cheetah and sprints cross the track.…

One line that I thought was pure ingenuity from the author was when he wrote one-liners in this novel that seemed to foreshadow the oncoming events and add onto the theme of the story. One of these lines were, "Hatred is blind, anger is foolhardy, and he who pours out vengeance risks having to drink a bitter draft." This line was very powerful in the sense that it foreshadows the series of events that occurs within the book. Edmond Dantes, the main character of the book, was stripped of his innocence by 3 conspirators, which he had called friends, and was sent off to Chateau d'If, an infamous jail in which the worst criminals go. He miraculously escaped, became wealthy, and sought vengeance against these 3 men who had taken his youth and innocence and turned it into something horrible... the Count of Monte Cristo, the sly, vindictive, mysteriously wealthy character which everyone is humbled by because of his simple fashion and mystique. He speaks with his ex-fiance's son's friend, Franz, who warns Dantes ahead of time that everything that goes around comes around. This line means that if one seeks to have his revenge, he shall get the disadvantages of what he does. Dantes is still "blinded by hatred," and says that only the poor and inept may pay for their discrepancies, but the rich and clever are the ones that will always reap the benefits. He learns later on in the book that his theory was not veritable in any sense, for he had a great deal of remorse and regret for what he had done and wanted to punish himself. But Haydee, his loyal servant, had loved him greatly, no matter what he had done, and gave him a reason to live, a reason to seek penance from God through living and repent throughout his life. He found out that what his former friend had told him would be what he needed to hear in the end.…

As Americans, we rely a great deal on the entertainment industry to educate us about things we don’t understand. In many ways, we live vicariously through the experiences of fictional characters and believe they learn many things from those fictional characters. For example, many people have said they learned about forensic techniques by watching the “C.S.I.” shows on television. They firmly believe that can assist in an actual criminal investigation because they have seen “experts” on television handle similar situations.…

. These obstacles are things like housing, transportation, and other basic necessities (Ehrenreich 2001). For instance, the working poor often do not have a permanent residence or family to stay with while they save money, and cannot afford a large deposit for an apartment. This means they have to settle with weekly hotel rooms, which end up being more expensive, yet are the only affordable option because they don't require large down payments. Transportation is another common factor; if one is a member of the working poor they likely do not have their own car and have to rely on public transportation. Depending on the location it is do-able, but public transportation in our society is still not widely-available in every city. One study shows…

Imagine walking to the subway with friends. You’re just hanging out without a care in the world, when, all of a sudden, a friend bumps into you and you fall into the tracks. Train transportation is a part of a lot of people’s lives. We often take for granted just how dangerous a train platform can actually be. Hundreds of people die every year from train related deaths. These unnecessary death can be avoided if we are more alert of our surroundings at train stations. Whether you are under the influence, tired, or just standing still, please stay alert, and take a step…

A friend said, on June 8, 2013, “people should walk.” (Should People Walk) From a health prospective, this is true because most people at WCC park closer to the buildings and don’t want to walk as far. Another is that students who live in Ann Arbor should take the bus because then they will have access to ride the bus and the new train in the following years with the Master Transit Plan proposed by the AAATA. In addition, it will provide more parking spaces to people who don’t live in Ann Arbor who commute from all over the surrounding areas. For example, my MTH 169 teacher, Mr. King, would commute from Farmington to Ann Arbor every day. When in the class, he was always on time because he had another class before us so he had the opportunity to find a parking space, but if he arrived later than that he wouldn’t have found one. Another example was in winter 2012, my boyfriend’s mother had exited the Bailey Library, and immediately a person asked her for her parking space. When my boyfriend was walking to the space, he saw his old ACS 107 teacher, Ms. Fragner, and she wanted his parking space, but unfortunately he had given it to the person…

I hate buses. I really do hate buses, so much that it’s turning me insane. Over time, as the frequency of crashes is reduced, cars and trucks could be made much lighter. This would increase fuel economy even more” (Anderson). Our country’s current transportation system is incredibly inefficient as drivers spend much of their travel time slowing down, speeding up, or staying stopped uselessly. The reason we have this current system in place is that humans are not able to work flawlessly in a complex system that would allow drivers to remain moving through an intersection at a high speed. Autonomous cars would eventually eliminate this system as they would be able to complete these complex tasks that humans are not capable of. Today's drivers are sick of getting stuck at red lights with no cross traffic in sight, a…

Buses have certain schedules and rates. People commuting in this type of transportation are also respectful and care for the well being of the vehicles and other passengers. In my time in the United States, I have used the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) in several ocations and I am impressed by how smoothly it works. From buying a pass using your mobile phone or a machine in the station, to looking up routes online and knowing that the time they display are going to be almost the same as the real travelling times. This type of public transportation is very safe and reliable.…
