Introduction
Oprah Winfrey was born in the rural town of Kosciusko, Mississippi, on January 29, 1954. After a troubled adolescence in a small farming community, a couple of male relatives and friends of her mother, Vernita, sexually abused her. After that, Oprah moved to Nashville to live with her father, Vernon. Her father was barber and businessman. She entered Tennessee State University in 1971 and began working in radio and television broadcasting in Nashville. Oprah Winfrey is an American media proprietor, talk show host, actress, producer, and philanthropist. . She is the first black woman to have such a credible role in media history.
Oprah Winfrey has been listed among the world’s first black women billionaire. Oprah Winfrey’s popularity stems from the fact that she brought all the emotion to reality television. The power of Winfrey comes from her love and spirit for the people, which is apparent from the way she interacts with the people and develops a connection with them despite their characters and personalities. Oprah Winfrey began as a media personality but soon became a global media leader. She developed her own production company by the name of Harper Inc. After that, she diversified into print entertainment with her online magazine and web entertainment with her website Oprah.com. Oprah is also known for her philanthropic ventures and her Oprah Winfrey Angel Network and The Oprah Winfrey Foundation are examples.
Oprah Winfrey’s History and Personal Life Oprah Winfrey was born in small village in Mississippi. Her parents were businesswoman and a barber. Oprah spent a very hard life living in poverty while being raised by her grandmother during her early years. Her grandmother taught her to read at the age of three and Oprah could recite from the Bible at that age. Her grandmother helped her to have faith on herself since she was a child.
