Ethics in Organizational Change
According to Dictionary.com, ethics is defined as the rules of conduct recognized in respect to a particular class of human actions or a particular group, culture, etc or usually ethics is used with a singular verb that describes the branch of philosophy dealing with values relating to human conduct, with respect to the rightness and wrongness of certain actions and to the goodness and badness of the motives and ends of such actions. This week, I will examine the ethical issues organizations face when implementing change. Ethical issues, such as creating vision, senior manager 's salary, implementing strategic change, changes in organization ownership and global strategic operation, poses the question to management which is, to what degree are such decisions proper? Under these circumstances, managers must make use of ethical decision model, to make the right decision. When an organization is considering making a change, ethics should be a part of the strategic planning process. To incorporate ethics into the strategy, there are three questions that should be asked: what does the organization represent, what is goal of the organization, and what the values of the organization are? Ethics is not incorporated into strategy by declaration. Ethics are the values and principles an individual utilizes to make life decisions. In an organization, ethics is a code of principles that becomes the foundation that will guide the organization in its programs, policies and decisions for the organization. The ethical attitude of an organization can affect the reputation, efficiency, and the financial health of the organization. Organizational leadership has huge implications on ethics. The ethics that leaders in an organization utilize to manage employees may affect the morale and allegiance of employees.
