Organizational Changes within RTA in Dubai
Organizational Situation 1: Locked out of the Process
Khalifa Al Ameeri is the Quality Director at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai. His is a middle management position. RTA’s senior executives have announced that they intend to hire a strategic planning consultant to develop a plan for major organizational changes within RTA. Planning for this organizational change will begin in about 2 months. It will take place in the conference centre of a local resort and will involve only executives-level managers and the consultant.
Being a recently graduate of reputable Master Degree program, Al Ameeri is so enthusiastic about making a difference in his workplace. He has several ideas he would like to propose to RTA in order to make the upcoming organizational change more effective. In addition, he wants to make sure that quality is treated as strategic issue during the planning for change process. Unfortunately, Al Ameeri and his fellow middle managers have not been invited to participate in the planning process for change. They are locked out of the process.
