What is orthodontics treatment?
It is a specialized type of dental treatment that focuses on correction of the patient’s bite, alignment of teeth and improving their smile.
Once I get fixed braces, how should I to take care of them?
Once your orthodontic treatment begins, you must take very good care of your oral hygiene. Make sure to follow the following routine regularly:
1. Brush: At least two to three times a day brush with appropriate technique by using a soft-bristled orthodontics toothbrush and an interdental toothbrush.
2. Fluoride mouthwash: After brushing use a mouth wash preferably with fluoride so you can protect your teeth from caries and white spots
3. Flossing: This must be done regularly to dislodge impacted food particles

Food selection: Avoid eating anything that can loosen a band, pop off a bracket or bend an arch wire, such as;
• Sugar-containing foods like candy, cookies & cakes etc.
• Sticky foods like caramel, chewing gum and chewy fruit snacks etc.
• Hard foods like ice, hard breads & peanuts etc.

What are the complications of orthodontics treatment?
In some patients the orthodontics treatment could be painful and discomfort treatment
Why it’s painful?!
The pain is related to the tooth position and force applied to re postion it. (Brown and Moerenhout,1991)

Pain during fixed orthodontic treatment increases gradually starting from the fourth hour to the 24th hour. It usually lasts for 2–3 days. Pain experienced by patients is highest in evening and nights returns to a normal degree usually by sixth day of orthodontics treatment (Angle Orthodontist, Vol 75, No 2, 2005, CONTROL OF ORTHODONTIC PAIN)
During treatment, you must return regularly review of progress & needed adjustments.

What if the braces injured my lips? the brace could hurts your mouth or lips , so you can ask your Orthodontist to give you small waxes to applied on you braces to protect your lips .
Use an oral anesthetic
-Take over-the-counter pain relief
