I believe Otzi was murdered because of how he was found lying on his stomach and most of his belongings like his unfinished bow were with him. From his belongings state of being unfinished I have gathered that he was not on the run from the bottom of the Öztal Alps. He …show more content…
had bruising all over his body which indicates to me that he was in a fight. I also believe that if he was on the run at the time of his murder he was not feeling threatened. He had a large meal beforehand which also proves to me that he was not on the run. These are the two main point to me that show he may have been murdered.
From the information I researched, I believe he was murdered by someone he knew or someone was tracking him and then killed him.
It appears he was preparing to go up the mountain. I think that someone else may have gone with him up the mountain which would explain why he was shot from such a close distance. This would also explain why the person was close enough to Otzi to pull the arrow out of his back. This also leads me to believe that the person who killed him left most of his belongings to make it look like someone else killed Otzi.
The scientific reason behind my reasoning, is that when Otzi was shot he had someone behind him which is how the arrowhead got logged in his back. This is also supported by him having a dagger in his hand. Another reason behind my opinion is that Otzi’s bow was broken which may mean he had no way of protecting himself besides the dagger. This would then support the idea he had someone go with him up the alps as well as why most of the arrows were not finished before hand.
Throughout this research project i learned a lot of different things about Otzi. Most of which leads me to my opinion of murder. I was also surprised the changing of the what happened. There are several times I changed my opinion because of the new theories that came up and the different facts. I’m glad i was able to do this project because i was able to learn a lot about Otzi and be able to form my own opinion of what happened to
him.
