This quote from Dalai Lame is a great example of where all our roots of optimism come from the soil. The soil goes on to replenish the roots of optimism, that will be instilled in everyone. I myself, try each day to put my best efforts out into the world so that I inspire greatness for all, but the question remains on where my roots of optimism began from. To understand how things, end, we must understand how they begin; how one choices life path. From when I was a child I was lucky enough to have supportive system that encouraged me each day to achieve greatness. A support system is a network of people who provide an individual with practical or emotional support, according to Merriam Webster. Even when it seemed like you could not reach your own expectations, your support system is there to help you achieve the endeavors of the world. In third grade I was told that I had a reading disability that held me back from going forth in my educational pursuits. During this time, life seemed to be filled with dread, as the world came down upon me. As times progressed, I could have let go, but I remember the words my mother instilled in me to stand immobile. She always told me to “Stand tall and by doing so you will be able to pass through the storm of life”. I was not alone in this battle, I had my biggest cheerleader there encouraging with her optimism.
Those people we find ourselves around have the biggest impact on effecting on the outcome of our optimism. I was lucky enough to have a support system there to help build my roots in optimism. Optimism has helped me to achieve a sense of comfort and overcome the challenges I faced as an impressionable child. But what about the ones whose roots are corrupted by the fruits of pessimism; what if I had never felt the support and comfort that has guided me to overcome my past problems.
