In my opinion, he is not a hero, but an anti-hero. Dally was a criminal, and he took pleasure in that; he didn’t like doing things the legal way. He was a product of bad circumstances. The reason why he is a hero, is that he saved Johnny and Pony many times. Dally helped them find a place to stay when they were fugitives; gave them money and a gun; and when he risked his life to save the kids from the burning barn.…

what exactly is a hero? Who can be classified as heroic? From my perspective a hero is not only someone who wears a cape, has superhuman strength, wears fancy clothes or someone who saves his lady from the bad guy; however he is someone who stands for strength, bravery, humbleness, justice and equality. I believe a hero is someone who truly intends to make the world a better place for all people. He stands for what he believes in even though he may encounter danger and obstacle. We often watch movies with action heroes fighting for a good cause, but these heroes cause us ignore the real life heroes such as Cesar Chavez and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Cesar Chavez and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr are genuinely the definition of a hero.…
He is Ponyboy’s least favourite member of the gang, Pony sees him as tougher colder and meaner. Johnny and Pony turn to Dally when they need help escaping after Johnny kills Bob. Dally is there for them as he gives Pony the coat off his own back so Pony could keep warm. Dally also gives them a gun and a place to hide. At the end of the book Johnny dies which makes Dally very sad and reacts in a bad way. Dally goes and steals that night and the cops started chasing him. When dally was running back the cops thought he pulled out a black object so they shot him. Dally ends up dying as well. Dally has no parents so he is living life by himself. He helped others out by pulling Johnny and Ponyboy out of the church and saving their lives. He also fought in the rumble for his greaser friends even though he should have been in the hospital getting better. Dally also kills himself because Johnny died, though this really isn't heroism it shows his love for his greaser friends. This is why I think Dally should be a hero.…
Darry’s responsibility showed through the way that he worked two jobs and still parented his brothers. Ponyboy stated,“Darry works too long and hard to be interested in a story or a book” (page 2). Ponyboy also said , “Darry worked two jobs at once and made good at both of them, and kept an outstanding record at school” (page 108). This shows that Darry worked so long helping his brothers and keeping two jobs that he did not have enough time to do little things like reading a book. Darry also kept his grades up when he was in highschool and he even got a scholarship , but for the sake of his brothers he didn 't go to college. So while in highschool he had to worry about all his grades and sports he still did good working two jobs and parented his brothers. Darry worked long and hard for his brothers but sometimes he had to be protective and got on to his brothers when they did something that could have impacted their lives in a bad way.…
