P1 Explain The Concepts Of Equality Essay
Megan-lee Vail

Explain the concepts of equality, diversity and rights in relation to health and social care.

In this essay I am going to be writing and explaining what equality, diversity and what rights are also I will be giving some arguments, research and examples.
Equality is an individual or groups of individuals that are treated fairly & equally including areas of race, gender, disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation and age. Equality In health and social has two parts, and the first part is health and this means every individual getting treated fairly and equally to everybody else such as, getting treatment they need. For example,
If one individual was an elderly person and just moved to London not long ago and his religion was Muslim and the other individual was a young girl in her teenage years who was born in London and she was Christian. If these two people with the same illness asked for the same treatment and they both got it from the NHS that would be equality because they are being treated fairly. However if one got the treatment and the other one didn’t that would be inequality however if it was anything to do with areas of race, gender, disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation and age that would be inequality and discrimination. Also if the man paid and got his treatment first or quicker than the girl that would also be inequality because that is not fair and they are not being treated equally.
Social care is linked to this by getting help and support with anything such as care workers, counsellors, and child support workers and pretty much anything that could help individuals or families getting help socially. For example, if the young girl that I spoke about before had troubles or problems at home such as her mum and dad are divorced and her mums an alcoholic she could get social help
