Logistic control many function within a given system. The supply management of any organization is based of good supply discipline. The makeup of this system must include a strong built system that can replace and support the repair and maintenance of any product life cycle. To accomplish this there must be a spare part warehouse or location that can respond to the need of the customer. First make sure that all identification of location for spare parts are clear and easy to read. Second input a system to forecast when you will need to reorder your spare parts. Also make sure to develop these inventory control systems to ensure that your spare are safe and are ready to maintain the life cycle. To safe guard your spare parts and to maintain a smooth logistic system the company will need to produce an inventory analyses system. This will allow them to carry out and understand the different characteristics of spare parts and how they consume them. This will also help with knowing the value of the spare and how important the safety of these spare are. When we talk about the protection of spares we really mean the probability of having a spare available when required. Of course the higher level of protection the higher the probability is of the company ability to replace and or repair that item. When determining the level of protection one needs to consider the different level of maintenance or corrective action being perform and any given time period. This will determine the system effectiveness and availability within the operation. I remember when I was a young soldier just starting out in logistic in the Army. I remember being a PLL clerk and ordering part to maintain our fleet and I can always remember every Friday was replenishment day and we would order repair part to replace what we use during the week. That system was put in place so that we would have the little to none downtime for our fleet.
